Critty Upchurch @ Bottoms Up

Influences like Edwin McCain, Gavin DeGraw, Elton John, Black Crowes, Dave Matthews, and Stevie Wonder dot the landscape of Critty’s music. A singer songwriter from Duluth, GA can do a little bit of everything.

Drivin and Cryin @ The Hummingbird

Formed in Atlanta in 1986, the hard-rocking, Southern roots music-steeped Drivin' n' Cryin' were never embraced on a national level, but have reigned supreme in the region during their tenure. Originally made up of singer/songwriter Kevn Kinney on guitar and vocals, Tim Nielsen on bass, and Paul Lenz on drums, the band's debut was the timeless hard rock/bluegrass fusion. Their Newest release, The Great American Bubble Factory, captures all that you grew up loving about D and C.

9/11
Natalie Kirk & Co. @ Mellow Mushroom

Steadily increasing her musical prowess, repertoire and her fan base, Natalie’s artistic efforts and creativity were rewarded by a recording contract with South City Records, in the spring of 2008. She calls Hattiesburg, Mississippi her home, and performs regularly throughout the region. In addition to her regular local appearances, Natalie has performed for the Mississippi Blues Trail program with Bobby Rush, Mockingbird Round at Schimmel’s, grand opening ceremonies of the Jackson Convention Complex, Hattiesburg’s Art Walk, etc.

2 Finger Jester @ Rivalry’s Sports Bar
2 Finger Jester was formed in 2001 at a New Years Eve Party and though the line up has changed, the music and shows have remained a constant hit.  With band members:  Mat Weber-Lead Vocals, John Michael-Guitar, Milt Armstrong-Bass, Jason LaForce-drums.   The band has won many awards since it's beginning  with earning the 2008 Readers Choice Cover Band of the Year.

A2Z Band @ Wild Wing Café

Cover bands can get a bad rap sometimes. But let’s face it, people love to hear the music that they grew up on, and there probably isn’t a better band at playing those hits, than A 2 Z. They Bring the party wherever they go, and play a set that will have you coming back for seconds.

WED 9/15
Chris Hicks & Friends @Backporch Lounge

Chris Hicks is a bluesy Southern rock guitarist who has played with Gregg Allman, Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Marshall Tucker Band, among others. Based in Macon, GA, where he was inspired by Otis Redding and James Brown, Hicks played with his band the Experience at various blues festivals around the South. His group opened up for Steppenwolf and Charlie Daniels during the 1980s, and later that decade, Hicks was asked to join the Outlaws. After the Outlaws disbanded in 1996, Hicks was the lead guitarist for the Marshall Tucker Band for one year before he became a solo act, with 1998’s Funky Broadway.

FRI 9/17

40 Daze @ Billy’s Clubhouse

40 Daze music simply put is Straight up Rock. Originating out of Macon,GA. and only six months from jumping on the Macon music scene in late 1999, 40 Daze was playing the biggest shows the area had to offer. They have opened for Drivin N Cryin, Jackyl, and Brand New Immortals just to name a few.

Sam Thacker Band @Bottoms Up

A note from Sam: I’ve spent the better part of the last three years between a van, an SUV and a bus driving across the country playing music – following broken lines along highways and back roads to and from places I’d never been before. Every song on my new album was shaped, in some way, by those stripes that lead me away from and back to my home…the lines that have made me the artist and person that I am today. They represent loss and appreciation for the past, growth and transformation, hope and excitement for the future. So this album is called "Lines." It is about crossing lines and drawing new ones. It is about the lines that bring us to where we are and the lines that will lead us to what we will become.

Connor Christian
& Southern Gothic @The Hummingbird

Equal parts modern troubadour, back road poet and outlaw rocker, Connor Christian creates gritty, soulful songs of experience revealing solace in hardship, hope in destitution, and a dustbowl sensibility.  His powerful music draws on influences ranging from Ryan Adams, G. Love, and Counting Crows to The Band and Tumbleweed Connection-era Elton John and makes a heartfelt statement found at the crossroads of Roots Rock and Americana.

Matt Moncrief @ Mellow Mushroom
.Sometimes you dont choose to be a musician; the music chooses you. So the story goes with artist Matt Moncrief. If music hadnt found its way into his bones from the beginning, life might be much easier albeit boring. But it did and it grew with him, seasoning itself as Matt evolved from church choral boy to imaginative teen, fledgling artist, aspiring bass player and finally an open-eyed adult with the natural identity as a bona fide singer-songwriter

SAT 9/18

Back City Woods @ Billy’s Clubhouse

Back City Woods is a new band that gives old sounds a new twist. Playing out of Macon, GA, all three members are natives of Cochran, GA — a small town in South Middle Georgia. Back City Woods embraces their Southern music heritage: Bluegrass, Country, Southern Rock, and Blues are all given a renewed sound when played by musicians who listen to too much Indie Rock.

WED 9/22
Rehab @Asylum Nightclub

* War Town based group Rehab has emerged on Universal Republic records with a bristling Mash-UP album, Grafitti The World, that deftly fuses frontman/ founder Danny Boone’s stone cold hip hop acumen – including spirited new tracks such as “Let ‘Em Know,” “1980,” and “Lawn Chair High,” – with southern rock flavorings that have caused even chart topping arbiters of rock and hip hop cuisine like Kid Rock and Cracker to inquire about covering Rehab’s eternal smash grassroots phenomenon “Bartender Song” aka “Sittin’ At A Bar.” The track has become the decade’s premier ‘Bar Song’ thanks to a keen viral marketing campaign by Rehab, and unprecedented digital jukebox sales, which saw the gritty lament reach near a million plays in bars and clubs across America in 2007 alone. “Bartender Song” is hardly the only worthy selection on Rehab’s pounding resume of infectious rip-it-up Mash-Up sound. They’ve drawn comparisons to a blender of styles represented by artists including alternative hybrid outfits 311, Outkast, Sublime, Linkin Park and othe

Planet Retro @ Cheers Bar & Grill

Members of Cold Feat compromise this fun loving band that sings your favorite songs from the 80’s and 90’s. Bring Your Dancing Shoes.

Matt & Lewis @ Billy’s Clubhouse

“Pure unabashed rock with the stripped down splendor of the original MTV Unplugged series."

Soulshine @ Bottoms Up

Stan the Drummer Man is perhaps best known as Tony Tyler’s dad these days, but this dude is not afraid to rock. Soulshine does tons of Allman Brothers Band covers and they do them well.

Homeless Hills @Rivalry’s Sports Bar

With Darin's powerful vocals and killer guitar riffs, Adam's rock solid bass playing and Danny's hard hitting drumming the Homeless Hill sound is unique and addictive, not too hard and definitely not too soft. They have taken the middle Georgia music scene and made it there own with there high energy live performances. With there debut album Set It On Fire under there belt they are already working on new material for there sophmore album

A2Z Band @ Wild Wing Café

These guys do it all, hence their name, and they probably do it better than any other cover band in Macon. A 2 Z really brings out the folks who are looking to have a good time. Great players, great singers, and great attitude!

SAT 8/28,

BabyBaby, @ 567 center for renewal with Space Ghose, Geri X
and Mouse Fire

There comes a time in every bands life when they must ask their selves “what are we doing?” Yeah we know life gets rough but, it’s the music that makes you want to forget about that sorry stuff. They are playing music!! Music that makes us dance, makes us sing, makes us want to keep playing songs for you with every entangled organ we own. We’ve heard the sad stuff and that just isn’t going to do. Truly ask yourself, look deep inside you and search for the answer… when was the last time you got your face painted? When was the last time you danced to some fun rock, baby? Tomorrow the light bill is due but tonight, without a doubt, we dance.

Jason Isbell & 400 Unit@ Cox Capitol Theatre

Southern rock is a minefield of rebel flags, drinking songs, and dudes yelling "Free Bird!" With Drive-By Truckers, singer-guitarist Jason Isbell learned to embrace some of those clichés; on his gritty, vibrant second solo album, he begins to transcend them. "However Long" personalizes working-class disaffection into a defiant anthem; stormy rocker "Soldiers Get Strange" is almost certainly the best tune ever written about post-traumatic stress disorder; and multiple tales of warm, lonely barrooms and the warm, lonely relationships they breed uncover new truths while traversing well-trod emotional terrain.

Planet Retro @Billy’s Clubhouse

Members of Cold Feat inhabit this 80’s party band playing all your favorites from the Breakfast club era.

Tokyo Spa @The Hummingbird

TOKYO SPA(the band) is a mix of seasoned musicians playing an eclectic mix of rock cover songs covering the 70s, 80s, 90s and NOW. Everything from Peter Gabriel to 311, Billy Idol to U2, Pink Floyd to The White Stripes!!

Citizen Insane @ Mellow Mushroom

Citizen Insane is a three piece avant-rock outfit from the outskirts of Macon, Ga. Dedicated and more than motivated, this group has a sound that is full of raw and vigorous energy, a vibe that is seemingly becoming more and more absent in today's electrified music. In a world with far too many rock bands doing little more than attempting to recapture the music they grew up on, Citizen Insane is truely unique. " No, these guys are not merely a second or third generation, tattered Xerox. And with such a wide array of influences, how could they be?It's all there, everything from the chaotic freedom heard via bands like Sonic Youth and The Velvet Underground, to the raw intensity of The Stooges and Black Flag. Yep, it's chaotic, free, raw, and intense. .

Radio Cult @ Wild Wing Café

Do you miss the days when it was OK to wear leg warmers and jelly shoes? Well, actually, neither do we. Radio Cult is here to rock out 80s style! We love it all; from Madonna to Van Halen (Nena to Guns N Roses, Joan Jett to Devo, Billy Idol to The B-52's, Def Leppard to The Ramones, Blondie to Ozzy, The Cars to Metallica, Bon Jovi to ....well, you get the idea). Come out to a show and watch US have FUN...it can be infectious!

SUN 8/29
Open Mic with Savana @The Rookery, 7pm

This open mic is quickly becoming a hotspot for Macon’s young songwriting sect. We’ve heard a gaunlet was thrown down last week by Justin Cutway for musicians who take part in this night to write a new song every week. Get down there and see for yourself what is happening in Macon.

WED 9/1
Chris Hicks & Friends @ Backporch Lounge

To be so young, Macon, Georgia’s Chris Hicks has been around the Southern Rock block a few times -- and in a big way. As guitarist and singer for The Outlaws and a stint in The Marshall Tucker Band and now as a solo artist, Hicks continues to amaze and astound with powerful blues vocals, smoldering hot guitar work and great songwriting

FRI 9/3

Ocean is Theory @ 567 Center with Robbers, The Key, Stribling, Efren

Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia; Ocean Is Theory blend hard hitting guitars with airy overtones and a solid drum and bass section that holds it all together. Having shared the stage with bands such as The Gym Class Heroes, As Cities Burn and Versa Emerge, Ocean Is Theory’s live show is unforgettable and has caught the attention of fans all over the southern US. Just recently graduating from high school, the members of Ocean Is Theory have been on the road non-stop since the release of their debut EP, “Into The Mouths Of Lions,” creating some serious buzz.

Matt Moncrief @ Billy’s Clubhouse

Sometimes you dont choose to be a musician; the music chooses you. So the story goes with artist Matt Moncrief. If music hadnt found its way into his bones from the beginning, life might be much easier albeit boring. But it did and it grew with him, seasoning itself as Matt evolved from church choral boy to imaginative teen, fledgling artist, aspiring bass player and finally an open-eyed adult with the natural identity as a bona fide singer-songwriter.

Phoenix Falling &Pistoltown @Bottoms Up

Strapping up in December of 2004, this three-piece pop/rock band, better known as “Pistoltown” has done nothing but try to forge ahead in today’s “clone” world of skinny jeans and bleached hair. Never trying to fit in, these boys rely solely on their infatuating music, electrifying live shows, and incessant schedule to captivate their fans around the globe

Bloodkin@ The Hummingbird

Bloodkin’s 20-year history has been a roller coaster of the good, the bad, and the ugly. There have been personal demons to tame, real tragedy to endure, and a very uphill battle to keep their creative relationship intact. But through it all, their music remains a genuine article of southern gothic narrative wrapped in the cloak of powerful and raw guitar-driven rock & roll music.
